About E/M dance Series
Embodied Motherhood is a body-based movement practice series open to mothers of all kinds- new mothers, those who are about to embark on the journey, those who want to be mothers, those who have been mothering for some time, and those who mother no matter the gender. In this class, we will offer a container meant to hold mothers, a place to land that is for them, and a place that is safe to explore tools that they can harness for their continued resilience and restorative self-care practices. Embodied motherhood intends to center mothers and their emotional, physical, and spiritual well-being. We will slow down in the beginning of class to access our subtle intuitive bodies and their wisdom, and gradually move and dance into our joy by the end of class to fill up and return to our families energized. The first half hour of class will consist of moving meditation guided with imagery, light yoga, and movement-based community-building exercises. And for a full hour we will be dancing to Caribbean music, Indian popular music, Dancehall, and Afro-beats. The goals of the dance series include: building community, empowering mothers and mothers-to-be in the Maui community, providing a safe space for support, centering mothers and their physical and emotional wellness, and sharing in culturally relevant dance practices.
